On February 29, 2008 Rick was rushed to the hospital with what turned out to be a strep A virus that had begun to attack his body. After several major surgeries including the amputation of both legs above the knee and three months in intensive care, he beat the odds. Rick returned home on June 27th where he was reunited with wife, Jill and 6 year old triplets. Rick is currently in the process of learning how to walk again with the help his Prothstesits Bob Tillges and his Otto Bock C-legs. Rick has an amazing attitude and great famil support.

"When I was first introduced to Aaron and Amanda Holms, we had just suffered a terrible illness that resulted in my husband having his legs amputated. I felt as if I couldn't go on and more importantly, I just couldn't see how our future would ever be bright again. Wiggle Your Toes changed our lives. They gave me hope and hope to my family. One thing they shared with me that made such a profound impression was pictures of Aaron on vacation having a wonderful time and playing with his children. That gave me the hope that we would get through this ordeal and it gave me the determination to do what needed to be done. Wiggle Your Toes is not only concerned about the person who has suffered the illness or accident but gives hope and guidance to all family members. I can't say enough about how they helped me to navigate through overwhelming details from what changes our home needed to be better equipped for my husband to helping us find professionals from prosthetics to care givers. Wiggle Your Toes has truly been our guiding light!"  Sincerely, Jill Kemna
